The Hartford Saengerbund (German Club) held its biennial Bierfest in Newington, Connecticut on Friday, August 26th, Saturday, August 27th, and Sunday, August 28th. Residents from around the state enjoyed three days of continuous entertainment that included traditional German dance demonstrations by the Schuhplattler Dancers (see photos below).

German specialty foods included grilled wursts, wiener schnitzel and leberkaese, potato salad, and their famous homemade potato pancakes. A variety of German beer was served which included Spaten Lager and the Hofbrau Lager.

Vendors from all over, such as European Gift Store of Hiram, ME, were busy selling pewter figurines, hats, t-shirts, embroidered linens, beer steins, etc.
